Remarks :
We discovered Cnemaspis andalas from two sites in West Sumatra (296–775m a.s.l.), and this species is associated with crevices in karst formations (karst surface) within primary forests. It has a wide geographic range that extends from Rimbo Panti to the Harau Valley along the Bukit Barisan Mountain Range.

Etymology:
Andalas is the local common name of the tree Morus macrourus (family Moraceae) but is more frequently used for the region inhabited by this species. Andalas also is an ancient name used in the 13th Century for Sumatra, Indonesia, and is formed here as an invariable noun in apposition.

English name: Andalas Day Gecko
